What Writers & Guide Books Said About Mariam Hotel

Globetrotter(2009)- This family-run hotel is the finest accommodation available in Madaba and the best in its class in Jordan. it's clean, cheerful and friendly with open-air pool, restaurant and bar. Charl Al Twal, the owner, will arrange discount taxis, tours and hire cars and even pick you up from the airport for a small fee. his knowledge of local history is encyclopaedic.

Washington Report on the Middle East Affairs by Michael Keating (2007)- Although there are several hotels in Madaba, the weary traveler would be wise to tell the cap driver to go to Mariam hotel. The Mariam is not fancy. instead, it's clean, airy, and neat. The beds are comfortable, and balconies overlook the swimming pool. The stone floors are covered with local carpets. Owner Charl Al Twal is solicitous and informative without being intrusive. It's a great place to site poolside breathing the clean, dry air while drinking a cold beer with hummous.

Outside Traveler (2007)- In Madaba I headed for the Mariam Hotel, a spotlessly clean family-run place with a pool out back and an easygoing traveler vibe.

Lonely Planet (2006)- Doubtless the best place to stay in town, with spotless rooms and bathrooms, good breakfasts, some of the most comfortable beds in Jordan and, best of all, Charl, the super-friendly owner. New for 2005 is a swimming pool, bar and poolside restaurant, which makes the place great mid-range value. Reservations are recommended. The hotel is located in a quiet residential district, two blocks northeast of the Al-Mouhafada Circle, an easy ten-minute walk from the town centre.

Rough Guide (2006)- Best hotel in Madaba by a long way, family-run and located on a quite street ten minutes walk north of the centre. The rooms spacious and bright, with en-suite bathrooms-are spotlessly clean, well kept and comfortable, with phones, fans, and central heating. The lobby has a pleasant lounge area with TV, while breakfast (and other meals on request) are served in the restaurant or on the outside terrace: an open-air swimming pool with bar and restaurant was completed in 2005. The welcoming and knowledgeable owner, Charl al-Twal, is a mine of information on the history of Madaba (which features his own family prominently) and on travelling around Jordan.

Routard (2006)- Chambres agreables, confortables et impeccables. Piscine. Organise des excursions dans les environs. Accueil tres sympa. In English (Pleasant, comfortable and impeccable rooms. Swimming pool. Organize excursions in the surrounding area. Very sympathetic reception.).

Insight Guides Jordan (2006)- Excellent family-run hotel on a quite street just north Madaba town center. Rooms are pleasant and well-kept, with en-suite facilities, and the genial owner bends over backwards for his guests, arranging tours and excursions, airport taxi service, transport south to Petra and more. Great value $$.

Jordan Jubilee (2006) - The Mariam unpretentious, but scrupulously clean and comfortable and with a lovely family atmosphere. It has a website at which also gives some idea of the history of the town and of possible excursions to  places nearby. Charl al Twal, the owner/manager is very helpful if you need advice or help in getting around, he keeps well up to date with all changes for tourists in Jordan. Be sure to give him my regards. The Mariam is the largest and most comfortable hotel in Madaba at the moment. The Mariam now has a large swimming pool and a poolside bar and restaurant. This is a very attractive place to relax, and means that you do not now need to go out for dinner........... and much more.

Reise Know-How (2006) - Neues Hotel, Nähe Stadtzentrum, sehr sauber, hilfsbereit, gut englisch sprechend. In English (New hotel, proximity city centre, very cleanly, helpfully, well English speaking).

In English very reomendaable, modern hotel and with good rates doubles . Very good rooms, with TV, bath, and heating and outdoor swimming pool for the summer. Breakfast including and is a good place so that they almost organize an excursion to you to any destiny of the King's highway.

In English (Transfer of the airport has 8 JOD.
